John Roderique

Webb City football Coach John Roderique enters his 22nd season with his alma mater. Roderique has guided the Cardinals to a 273-24 record since taking the helm in 1997. Roderiques' 92% career winning percentage makes him the winningest coach in Missouri high school football history by percentage. Roderique has been named Coach of the Year by his peers in the Missouri Football Coaches Association in 1997, 2000, 2001, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012,  2013, 2014, & 2017.

 

Roderique has guided the Cardinals to the MSHSAA playoffs 20 of his 22 season as Head Coach, including the last 19 seasons in a row (2000-2018). The Cardinals have advanced to the state semi-finals 17 times including 8 in a row from 2008-2015.

 

Roderique's Cardinals have reached the Show-Me-Bowl 14 times (1997, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017), winning 11 Missouri Class 4 State Championships (97, 00, 01, 06, 08, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17).

 

Coach Roderique was enshrined into the Missouri Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2017 and the Joplin Area Sports Authority Hall Fame in 2016. Roderique was named the 2016 Pete Adkins- Power of Influence Award winner.

Mike Tarpey is in his 12th season as head coach for the Rams. Tarpey has led Ladue to a 108-37 record in his tenure. The Rams have enjoyed 11 straight winning seasons since a 2-8 start in his first season in 2007.

 

The Rams have reached double digit win is seven seasons including the last three. Tarpey has led Ladue to 7 conference championships and 7 district titles.

 

This will be the Rams 5th trip to the MSHSAA semi-finals under Tarpey. The Rams reached the final four in class 4 in 2010, 2016, 2017, and 2018. The Rams also qualified for the class 5 semi-finals in 2014.

Webb City defeated the Rams 14-0 in the 2017 MSHSAA Show-Me-Bowl at Faurot Field on the campus of the University of Missouri. It was a hard fought defensive struggle with the Cardinals not putting the game away until the last minute in the game with their second touchdown.

 

The Cardinals defense held the Rams to just 67 yards rushing and a total of 97 yards of offense for the game. Ladue earned just three first downs and was held to zero third down conversions on nine attempts.

 

Webb City rushed for 300 yards on 63 attempts. Durand Henderson rushed for 201 yards on 38 carries and score one of the two touchdowns for Webb City in the game.
